Practical lessons for a 7 year old

10 Feb

We’ve been having a few issues with a certain 7 year old lately and I felt it important to teach him a poem before his 16 year old sister took matters into her own hand.

With apologies to Robert Frost, this is what I taught my son:

  • I’ll do my best
  • I hope you’ll see
  • To flush the toilet
  • When I pee
  • And put the seat down
  • When I’m through
  • So you won’t fall in
  • When you go pooh!

What do you think? Will he learn the lesson or will he become just another nameless statistic of little brothers having justice doled out to them by angry and vicious big sisters?

“Does anybody really fall in?” Let’s see, middle of the night, half asleep, no nightlight. Yep, easy to “fall in”… And unfortunately, as long as 7 year old boys have figured out a way to torment big sis, they will. Perhaps when the boy grows older…say 38 or so…

That’s hilarious Marty. It also sounds like past experience. :)

Not so much the 7 year old little brother as the 7 year old sons…
